Tile Ship 102 from the Royal Blue collection of ships from Royal Delft. A classic tile of Delft blue earthenware. These tiles were used as decoration in the 17th century and were built into the chimney as a sign of involvement in the Dutch merchant navy (VOC). Due to the increasing prosperity among traders and farmers in the 17th century, the demand for Delft blue wall tiles increased. Plateelbakkerij de Porselyene Fles in Delft produced a series of beautiful decorative tiles with a typical Dutch signature.
