Description

Hand-painted Delft blue violin with classic Delft blue polychrome (color) decoration with a windmill in a typical Dutch landscape and floral decoration. This top quality pottery artwork is a full size 1/4 violin. The string instrument is hand-painted and handmade in a Dutch ceramic workshop.

The polychrome technique is a painting technique with the colors brown, green, yellow and blue. The decoration technique and use of color originally comes from countries around the Mediterranean and was first used to decorate Delft pottery around 1800.

This earthenware piece is hand-painted by pottery artist M. de Wit. This hand-painted violin is a unique piece. The product is marked with the M. de Wit mark and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
