This porcelain doll represents the traditional costume in Holland. Traditional costumes arose in the isolated communities around the fishing villages on the IJsselmeer (formerly Zuiderzee) and on the fishing villages along the North Sea coast, where people had a common profession or faith. Its heyday was in the nineteenth century. The traditional costumes can still be found in Volendam, Marken, Spakenburg, Urk or Hindeloopen.

This is a collector's doll. The costume is a faithful copy of the original costume.
