Tile with a Dutch ground sailor windmill at a house on the waterfront from the Royal Blue collection of windmills from Royal Delft. These tiles were used in the 17th century as decoration and were built into the chimney. Due to the increasing prosperity among traders and farmers in the 17th century, the demand for Delft blue wall tiles increased. Plateelbakkerij de Porselyene Fles in Delft produced a series of beautiful decorative tiles with a typical Dutch signature.
